Weekend Cycling with friends... Pt 2 of 2...

Sunday dawned lovely with a big blue sky and big fluffy clouds drifting by out to sea,
Dave an i swapped the bikes back to Fat Wheels for a ride to the coast at Seacliff...

We rode up Whitekirk Hill first to show Dave the ace views from my old work place...

Defunct and very unlikely to ever return the course is disappearing, the greens now lost...

Dave doing a `coastkid` on the Cairn...

360 big sky views...

We rode north over Becky`s Strip Byway and minor road to Seacliff...

Surviving original Steading...

Wee film from Gleghornie to Auldhame
Song is `Bubble Gum` by Stereo Lab
Sunday Cycle; Aug 17 Pt 1 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

Flat out cranking in top gear down the road to Seacliff harbour...
Another  wee film,
Song is `One too many Lifestyles`  artist unknown...
Sunday Cycle; Aug 17 Pt 2 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

The beach was already busy with families so we got along to the start of the rocks and within a few hundred yards had the place to ourselves...

A big playground for Fatbikes...

I managed to punch a hole in the rear tyre which deflated rather quickly,  a tyre worm would probably re sealed it but i had none.  More tyre sealant failed to seal it so i stuck a tube in and we were soon rolling again...
New tyre ordered as it`s over a year old quite worn with a lot of cuts and scars on the sidewalls...

We did some filming on a tech rock section before blasting across Peffersands to Ravensheugh,
Here is some film at the Harbour then once onto the Carr rocks...
Song is a track from the soundtrack for the movie Rumblefish...

Sunday Cycle; Aug 17 Pt 3 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

Then along The Secret Trail and across to Tyninghame for soup at the cafe, then a blast to East Linton via Binning woods for ice Cream!...

Preston Kirk...

Will come back to here for another blog post on a famous East Lothian resident laid to rest here...

Wee film,
Song is `There`s No Other Way` by Blur...

Sunday Cycle; Aug 17 Pt 4 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

Heading back to HQ on trails and watched some motorcycle racing...

Then finished the ride through the abandoned Hospital...
Song is `Tears From The Compound Eye` by Boards of Canada...

Weekend Cycling with friends... Pt 1 of 2...

Ace weekend with friends.
Dave came down from Skye for the weekend and would see two fun days cycling local trails and loads of laughs and banter...
Jeff from Wales was up in East Lothian for a weeks hols with family and had a pass for Saturday so joined up along with Jason and Craig.
Dave and i fitted plus wheels and i checked of the old KramPug to lend to Jeff...

We were all ready but the weather was not!, it poured down until after 11am, so was decided to ride the John Muir Way to Archerfield Walled Garden and get a pint, juice, food, blether...

The odd field ready for cycling!...

I shot loads of film over the weekend with the Go Pro HERO Session 4, edited into short 3 minute films...
Here dropping into North Berwick on the JMW and heading in Yellowcraig...
Song is `Fallout` by Working For A Nuclear Free City...

Saturday Cycle Aug 17 Pt 1 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

Through the dunes at Yellowcraig, sandy single track...
Song is `All That We Perceive` by Thievery Corporation...
Saturday Cycle; Aug 17 Pt2 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

Some of the trails are just so fun like here on the JMW, be careful in summer when visibility ahead is limited with the trees in leaf,  fun taking different lines winding through the pines...
Saturday Cycle Aug 17 Pt 3 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

Riding back to HQ Jeff had to head off mid afternoon so the rest of us came up with the idea of riding to Dunbar, again on the JMW for some chips and set off...

Big views over the Shire...

Here is another film riding the JMW from East Linton to John Muir Park...
Song is `Holographic Universe` by Thievery Corporation
Saturday Cycle; Aug 17 Pt 4 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

We stopped at Bullet Hill, before riding to Winterfield.
Most of the East Lothian Coast was MOD land and off limits to the pub;lic during WW2 for coastal defences built in 1940 then later training.  Here at JMP was one of many live fire ranges, a hill is full of .303 rounds from a firing range, a quick dig in a rabbit hole will find spent rounds, see the start of the film,
Song is `Waterfall` by Stone Roses...
Saturday Cycle; Aug 17 Pt 5 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

Through John Muir Park and onto Dunbar cliff path...

Chips bought we sat looking over the harbour, gulls looked over our food...

Chips Devoured it was back along the JMW and already the tide on the way in...

Hence the name `The Bridge to Nowhere`...

John Muir Park..

Great riding through the Scots Pine woods here...
Song is `Otter Folk` by Chemical Brothers...
Saturday Cycle; Aug 17 Pt 6 from coastkid71 on Vimeo.

Emerging overlooking Hedderwick sands,  and the Tyne Estuary...

Dave brought back a souviner of summer...

Good crack with old friends...

Great thing about when Dave visits is his ace cooking skills, a lovely pasta, washed down with some Cider...

Banter in front of a roaring Chiminea...
