Weekend spending doing what weekends are for...

Enjoying yourself that`s what!... :D
Been another great weekend doing my own thing and helping out with Francis`s hobbies too...

May has been recorded as the wettest and coldest in places in the UK, not here, cold yeah but the rain has been short heavy bursts falling on dry ground, windy too, but still many days of those big skies and fluffy clouds drifting by...

I call them `Simpsons Clouds`,  why? check out the opening credits ;)  though the crows here have the usual 2 eyes!...

Friday evening i received another Tyre through the post from Charlie Bike Monger for the big Surly Moonlander, another 4.8" Schwalbe `Jumbo Jim` which i set up Ghetto (split tube) tubeless easily.
These tyres appear to be as rare as hens teeth in the USA, but are readily available here in the UK,
And i was looking forward to trying them out, along with the Ghetto tubeless set up out on the low tide rocks to see if it will hold up to the low pressure riding of the big Moonie...

With all that done it was time for a few ciders as been a real busy week at work,
:)

Saturday i went with Francis to Berwick, after a walk with Mowgli under another big East Lothian sky...

Sunday morning i took the Surly KramPug 29+  to West Saltoun and de marked the Gifford  Horse Endurance ride that Francis was riding, i left 10 minutes after the last horses and it was a lovely 23km loop..

Just a short `pleasure` ride in distance but the KramPug`s high BB with short cranks was ideal on the narrow rutted tracks and the going in places was real soft after the previous nights rain that a regular MTB would have been a real struggle to keep going where the same tracks were used for the out and back of the route, The 29+ wheels and Maxxis Chronicle 3" tyres were superb.  And with 8 big thorns in the tyres once home and the bike washed the Ghetto tubeless is a success!

I never took many pics but came across a lovely hidden garden and memorial in an old ruin of a cottage...

In the afternoon i took the big Surly Moonlander to Dirleton and rode down to Yellowcraig with Mowgli to try the bike out with it`s new skins!...

Will do another blog post on the tyres as loads of folk asking about them!...

More soon...
